Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Beautiful, spacious & modern barn with gorgeous views. On arrival, we found it to be cosy & warm with plenty of logs for the fire. The main bedroom is huge & additional bedrooms are a good size with comfy beds. There are plenty of bathrooms that are all well equipped & mostly decent working showers (the joint bathroom shower wasn't very powerful). Towels, shampoo, etc. & and complimentary slippers were a nice touch. Great WiFi throughout the property & tv with many channels. Lovely furnishings with plenty of seating for our group of 10. Large utility with washer, dryer, iron & ironing board. High chair, travel cot & stairs gate. Well equipped kitchen with plenty of pans & crockery. Lovely outdoor area with seating, hot tub, bbq & ambient lighting. Overall, good communication with the owner & the app had helpful information.

Negative: We asked for the hot tub to be heated for our arrival, which it was. However, the lid had been left open strangely, so the temperature had dropped. Also, leaves had all blown in. There isn't much lighting on the main entrance steps & there is a loose flag. We also had some snow whilst there, so a salt bucket would have been handy as the steps were slippy, The coat hooks near the door are more aesthetic than useable. The sonos speaker wouldn't work & the main lamp in the sofa area didn't have a plug. Although the kitchen was mostly well equipped, there were lots of minor things that let it down. Such as the insides of the cupboards weren't very clean & left over food from previous guests in them & the freezer. Smelly chopping boards & no serving bowls or basic utensils like wooden spoons, etc. There wasn't a hoover, mop, or even a dustpan & brush available & no cleaning products, bin bags, or tea towels. Had this been stated on the app, we would have happily taken our own. Luckily, there are shops a few miles away to buy some cleaning products. Unfortunately, during our stay, we found the dishwasher to be broken & smelly stagnant water in the bottom. Probably nothing a good clean & unblock would fix. On using the kitchen sink to then clean dishes, we found a leak from the waste pipe under the sink, which was also where the electrics to the dishwasher were. It had probably been there a while as the cupboard & drawer underneath were damaged. We reported it straight away & was told someone from maintenance would get there ASAP. However, no one arrived during our time there. The end double bedroom has a really bad musty smell to it. It's so bad you couldn't sleep in there without a window & door open. Apart from the smelly bedroom situation, all the above are only minor details & can be easily sorted & would give this lovely barn a much more luxurious feel.

Summary: Could be exceptional with some tweaks here & there!!
