Travel Purpose: business

Positive: The room was fine for a brief, single night of sleep, the bed seemed clean, and was comfortable enough, though maybe not for those who need very firm mattresses. Towel and toilet roll provided. Bath/shower and toilet were separate, shower worked well. I didn't use the communal area or kitchen, they also seemed clean enough.

Negative: I'm not overly obsessive about cleanliness, but the window and carpet could've done with an extra clean/hoover, ditto the bathroom. The toilet door could not actually be shut (as if the door didn't quite fit the frame), and neither bathroom or toilet had locks. I am only giving such detailed info below as a factual account, to indicate the slightly stressful and chaotic nature of communication for this booking: I booked this room 4 months in advance. The message via booking.com advised me to send a copy of ID to an email address, which I did. 2 weeks to go and I'd heard nothing. I messaged the first of the two numbers provided, to check things were OK. I heard nothing back. 1 day to go, I messaged the other number, and received an automated response via WhatsApp advising me to contact a third number. This number was at least responsive, though they first asked me for ID, so I said I'd already emailed it as instructed, which they seemed unsure about until I sent a screenshot of the email. The morning of check-in, I received a message via booking.com, saying I was being relocated to a different property, 1km further out of the city centre than what I had booked. I said that was fine, and was sent access codes for the front door and room. Less than an hour later, the messages were deleted, and they apologised saying it was the wrong room, then sent me new codes. When I arrived, I had trouble accessing the property because they'd said both codes were for the front door. Once inside, I then couldn't access the room, as the code refused to work. I messaged the contact again, and they said they would reset it. The new code provided then worked. Quite a lot of uncertainty and hassle, alongside the problems with the property itself, compared to all my previously smooth experiences with booking.com properties.
