Canary Wharf is one of London's most affluent residential and commercial districts close to the City and about half an hour from the West End. There are scores of exclusive bars and restaurants such as Hawksmoor, a steak house based in a floating pavilion. Dishoom and Emilia's Crafted Pasta restaurant are a few minutes walk away. For self-catering, there are plenty of local supermarkets and delicatessens. Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, home of the 2012 Olympics, now a leading destination for sport, entertainment, culture, education and leisure is nearby. For nightlife the bars of Shoreditch and Hackney are a short cab ride away.
The area enjoys an excellent transport system via the Docklands Light Railway which links to London's underground network.
