The historical market town of Richmond is a short drive away, with its cobbled streets, majestic castle, beautiful riverside walks and places to explore. In the opposite direction you will find the beautiful town of Barnard Castle, where you can spend the day strolling around the castle ruins and riverside walks, or the town’s antique shops and galleries. The famous Bowes Museum is always a huge attraction with many interesting exhibits.
The A1 and A66 road networks ae both just over a mile away making destinations like the Lake District, York or the Yorkshire coast easy to access. There is a lovely community spirit within the village and at various times throughout the year there will be events held that are open to the public. Within a short drive are excellent farm shops where you can buy local produce or visit the cafés for food and drink. Nearby, the villages of Gilling West and Middleton Tyas both have excellent pubs for eating out, and for special occasions, there are further great eating establishments at Moulton.
